This event is something I am going to have to go to more often. Yes it is a bit of a trek for me coming from the Bronx. but I had a good time.  The local comedians were a welcome change to the out of date wanna bee's, who think they are so good but they really are NOT.  I am not saying the local comedians were the best, but they didn't act as though they were the best,  they gave it a good go and the audience wasn't booing them.  If your looking to just give it a try then this is a good place to try it at.  They also had a local singer and rapper who did quite well, I was entertained.  An  up and coming male comedian took the stage and he had it going on,  he will be coming out on Bet in a few months.  The highlight of the evening was of course QUEEN AISHAH who took the stage for at least and hour, I am sure she was on for more.  Even though she spent most of her day at VH1 doing an interview etc.  She came to us and gave us one hell of a performance that I wouldn't have missed for the world!

This event is what they call, BBW Enhanced.  Meaning that BBW's are welcome.  Not everyone there is a person of size but no one was cracking on the big girls and men.  The seating was comfortable.  The location was not giant but it had a comfy cozy feel that you would feel at the local coffee shop.  The decor was that of a coffee shop, but I didn't see any coffee.  Instead a nice bar where you can order mixed drinks, which fits me well pina colada's and daiquiris are more my style than the hard liquor only that is provided at most locations.  To the back was a gentlemen who was serving some of his cooking. I later found out he was a caterer and wanted to give samples to the public.  Deep Fried turkey with toastones (Fried Green Plantain)  was served with garlic sauce.  A nice simple desert of pastry with a cream cheese layer with fresh berries on top was a interesting treat.

For the $5.00 cover charge I have to say this Thursday evening was entertaining, comfy and tasty.  I got much more than $5.00 worth.  I nice change in my weekly event schedule.  I would encourage everyone to give the Comedy Talent night a try on Thursdays and the poetry open mic night on Tuesdays a try.  This happens every week but I would suggest to be put on the mailing list for special events or call the below numbers for event information.
